Rafe and Steve’s day with the Samsung OMNIA HD
Dieter was lucky enough to spend some hands-on time with the upcoming S60-based Samsung OMNIA HD and I hope to spend more time with it at CTIA in a couple of weeks. Rafe and Steve are making my choice between the OMNIA HD and Nokia N97 tougher and tougher with their full day hands-on look at the OMNIA HD.

The icons on the Home screen remind me of what we find on the HTC Touch Pro and Diamond devices from Sprint with their neon-esque outline design that look cool to me. I like what Samsung has been doing with all of these OMNIA type form factor devices that range from Windows Mobile down to feature phone models and think having a S60 flavored one is going to be fantastic. Combine the power and customizability of S60 with Samsung’s TouchWIZ UI and an 8 megapixel camera and you have one killer media creation device.
I still think the N97 will win out for me since I am such a huge hardware keyboard fan, but the OMNIA looks like it would be my clear second choice. Which of these two appeal most to you?

Yep, Nokia N97 still seems to be “the device”. But Samsung is doing great job lately.
