Ovi Maps 3.04 beta now available with speed and positioning improvements
If you have the free Ovi Maps 3 client on your Nokia device then you may be interested in trying out the latest beta version 3.04 from Nokia Beta Labs. This beta release has tweaks to improve performance and positioning and I understand this includes pre-defined categories, improved search for cities with zoom out to city level.
I’ve been using Ovi Maps on a Nokia N97 mini and found it to be quite good. I haven’t tried out this newest beta version yet, but will load it up soon.

We need an updated version for the N900 stat!
You aren’t kidding! A good Ovi Maps client on the N900 would be rocking my navigation world. The current N900 client is very confusing and rather lame.

I have just downloaded and installed v3.04. Impressed, you bet!! I was not expecting an improvement of this level with a minor update from 03 to 04. The GPS fix comes up in under 10 sec and under 3 sec in some cases. In a few cases, I was able to get the fix inside my room. Although accuracy inside buildings is not great but nevertheless it impresses. In v3.03 the fix used to take between 1 min to 15 min. You have got to try it to believe it.

Why do Nokia keep emailing me to say 03/04 is now available for my N95 8GB when it isn’t?
