Opera Mobile 10 beta released for S60 devices, may set new browser standard
It looks like it is time to pop the SIM card back into the Nokia N97 with the announcement of Opera Mobile 10 for Symbian S60 devices. We have had Opera Mini for S60 for years and Windows Mobile and UIQ have been the only devices to support Opera Mobile so this is a very welcome change to see the full Opera Mobile browser come to the S60 platform. Unlike the proxy-only nature of Opera Mini, Opera Mobile gives you a full web browser with support for proxy to speed things up using the Opera Turbo toggle. Opera Mobile is optimized for both touchscreen and keypad-style devices and is available now for FREE.
Opera Mobile 10 supports tabbed browsing, speed dial, password manager, and more. It looks like Opera Mobile 10 surpasses even what Opera Mobile 9.7 has on Windows Mobile and I can’t tell you how excited I am about this alternative browser for the S60 platform. You can download directly to your mobile phone from . Check out this comparison page to help you choose which is best, but I think it is clear Opera Mobile 10 is the way to go for us geeks.

Wasn’t version 5 out in beta just recently? how come they jump all the way to version 10?

that was Opera MINI. this is with the new engine, the same that comes with opera 10.1. OPERA PLEASE bring this to maemo too.!!
Tried it quite a bit. The overall experience is FANTASTIC. I must confess I always considered Opera very much but this one clearly surpasses any other browser I tried on my 5800. Ok, not so much of a competition though…
Having said that, there are numerous bugs that still make it a little early before definitive adoption. Memory maxes out quite rapidly (soft reboot required), couldn’t figure out how to edit the existing tab in the launchpad and a few other less important disagreements.
My hint to the Opera crew : get us a way to import the favorites from the default browser, that’ll make everybody life easier while switching over to Opera 10.
Thanks Greg

I have to say, this thing works excellently, using it as I’m typing this. I actually think tha the on-screen keyboard surpasses the normal one in the 5800, just it’s more true to the qwerty-layout. The look, feel and speed are phenomenal compared to earlier versions. I just hope that the final version will have the abilityto add search engines, I need others besides the google and wikipedia that are included. That and flash support. Still, easily my main mobile browser as it is now.

Driving me nuts, I have an N97 just like the one in the video, and I installed the latest opera mobile 10 beta 2, and when I do a single tap like in the video, it does NOT zoom in. A mobile browser without zoom is utterly useless. Any ideas ?
