Nokia RX-51 live photos shown, no longer just wishful thinking

Someone is giving out some great info on the previously rumored Nokia Rover/RX-51/N900 and Engadget Mobile now has actual photos of the device and a fairly complete unboxing. I think it is safe to move this out of the rumored category now. Sometimes we see things appear on the FCC that never materialize, but this is definitely a real device (a Nseries device by the look of the labeling) and I really hope we see some announcement for it at Nokia World. The more I look at it, the more questions I have too.

Now that we see the device, here is what I would like to know:

  • Is the display capacitive?
  • What OS is it running (Symbian Foundation, Maemo, S60)?
  • Is it really, truly coming to the US with support for T-Mobile’s 3G network?
The keyboard (3 row with directional arrows) looks similar to the rumored N97 Mini device. What do you hope for this device and does it appeal to you?

I still dont get this device, its a data only MID with a cramped kboard, camera and tiny screen.

Whos it going to appeal to, previous Nokia MID owners are not going to be happy, road warriors cant use this to replace the netbook and without a phone UI, its not going to appeal to common phone users, wheres the market?

@Dans, it’s a phone, not just a MID.

@Matthew: 1) The screen is resistive. 2) It runs Maemo 5. 3) It seems, but until the announcement we won’t know for sure.
