Nokia N900 videos: Conf. calling, email/SMS/IM, settings, and games
Here we go with some more video coverage of the Nokia N900 folks. This time I answered some reader questions in video format and showed a few other aspects of the Nokia N900. Check out the videos below for more about conference calls, email, SMS, and IM, N900 settings, and games loaded on the N900.
Conference calling
As you can see in the video below, conference calling with 2 additional parties (and yourself) is supported on the N900. I showed the process in the video, but you simply place and connect one call, tap the upper menu, place and connect the 2nd call, tap the upper menu and select to Start Conference Call. That’s it folks.
Email, SMS, and IM
POP, IMAP, and Exchange email is supported on the N900 and the client is pretty full featured, with support for HTML email. SMS is slick with threaded messages. Instant Messaging is nice, especially with live status of your contacts and their connections.
Settings
I know this is probably pretty boring, but people do like to know what kind of settings are present on the device. This walk through shows them to you and you can see they are all nicely in one place. That said, many apps have even more settings within each application.
Preloaded games
There 5 games loaded on the N900 out of the box, including Blocks, Chess, Mahjong, Marbles, and Bounce. They look pretty good on the high resolution display and show off the N900 too. I am not a huge gamer, but these looked nice and played pretty well. The Bounce game stuttered a bit at times, but remember this is still a pre-production N900.14 Comments to Nokia N900 videos: Conf. calling, email/SMS/IM, settings, and games
About the conferance call, have you tried making more than two calls using more then one service. For example two ordinary conferance calls and a call through SIP/Skype/etc?

Thanks for all your hard work reviewing the N900.
I am a Nokia noob, but very interested in the N900. I was disappointed to see the lack of push email in the mail app. My understanding was that Ovi functions similarly to BIS (Blackberry Internet Services) and if you had an Ovi account, you could use it to push your Gmail or Yahoo mail to the device.
Is that just wrong?
Thanks!

I noticed you are using Mail for Exchange. Can you let us know if the MfE for N900 has the same functionality as Symbian? More specifically, does it support HTML email? Does it support multiple folders? These are things that frustrate me with MfE on all the Nokia devices I have owned.

I am unable to see any images in my Mail For Exchange emails. Basically all HTML emails are coming as text and the images are coming up as attachments. The load image option at the bottom toolbar is disable and I have to click on each of these attachments to see the images. I have already selected HTML as the email format. However I am able to load the images for my other GMail IMAP account.
Also while replying to any emails, I always get the > symbol at the beginning of each line. Is there a way to disable that? Also during reply all, not all the addresses come up in the To/CC list and I lose some of the contacts from the original email list.
Could anyone help me out with these issues?
