Nokia N900 now shipping to retailers
Good news people, the Nokia N900 is now shipping and should be available soon at retailers here in North America. The current pre-order price at Amazon is $559.99 so this might be the best deal going at the moment with their return policy flexibility compared to other stores. I still have my pre-production unit and don’t have a pre-order in place at the moment because I need to see how the shipping software performs. Unfortunately, I still have an early version of the software and Nokia has not provided an update for the device.

There is no word on whether T-Mobile USA will ever pick this up, but I am doubting it since we haven’t seen any substantial rumors yet. I think it is quite strange though for Nokia to include the 1700 MHz frequency in all the N900 units without some kind of major deal with T-Mobile since they are the only ones using this band.
Any readers order a Nokia N900? Where did you purchase one?

So we will still be able to use the phone with T-Mobile, right? What your saying is that it looks like they aren’t going to subsidize it within their plans. But with their new pricing model it doesn’t really matter right? You would pay full price for the phone anyway if you want that $79 no contract deal… just hoping to get clarification… Great blog I check it daily.
Evidently at some of the Maemo and Linux meetups earlier in the year, Nokia was showing off prerelease models with tmobile silk-screening. (Strangely enough, even though it was printed for tmob it was running on AT&T.) Its certainly possible, but without solid rumours about it it is getting harder to believe it didn’t fall through (or wasn’t just a promo/demo of some sort.)
I pre-ordered on Amazon and canceled the order. Got mine on Newegg which also has Bing cash back (10%) plus free sipping.
I’m happy!!!!

Pre-ordered with Newegg. I haven’t seen the Bing cash back (10%) the other user is referring to but I am getting free shipping.

I would love to get the N900, but with no AT@T 3G service, and no planes for a US version, like all the Nokia phones in the past, I will have to watch from the sidelines. Maybe Apple will come to the rescue with something new, It could happen.
Has anyone heard if and when a US version supporting AT@T 3G service would be available?

@Dcboy123, the n900 that’s coming to the U.S. is the US version. It will have the 3G frequencies for tmo though.
Matt, according to maemo, there’s a new firmware (1.2009.42.11) thats supposely on the retail version. Have you try it yet?

I ordered one on Amazon in the US. Tried to get the Dell deal. I’ve got AT&T and will try it with wifi only for a while since I have wifi at home and work but may decide to switch to Tmobile for 3g. Amazon still doesn’t say when it will ship, but I hope this means it will be soon.

I stopped counting on it being subsidized. I’d think we’d hear something after all of this time. With no contract on Tmo, you’d still pay full price for the n900. Ordered mine from newegg. I wish I had caught the deal that Dell had.

I mad that they hyped up the ship out to retailers, but newegg pushed the date back to the 30th which means I won’t see it until early December. :@

I have mine pre-ordered through Amazon simply because their mobile phone return policy is the best there is. 30 days, full refund, any reason (might be stretching it a bit here), no restocking fee, no return shipping fee. Can’t really beat that.
