Another Nokia N900 deal alert: $50 Nokia rebate on Amazon and Newegg
I’ve posted a couple of deal alerts for the Nokia N900 and we again have another deal that knocks $50 more off of the device so you can pre-order now on Amazon for $509.99, after $50 rebate. I canceled my preorders from Amazon and Newegg a couple of times as I wait until the device is actually closer to release and with the price drops we are seeing this may turn out to be the best strategy. Picking up the N900 for $510 is excellent, but I think I may continue to hold out since I have the evaluation device until January and may see it get down even further by then.

If you have already preordered this at Amazon, then it looks like the rebate will apply to your existing purchase since the rebate is valid until 31 December. Great news for prospective N900 owners. If you preordered with Newegg or another source, you may want to jump back over to Amazon now.
UPDATE: A reader stated this rebate is also available on Newegg so you may get this with a pre-order there too.

Of course, every time you cancel and re-order, you end up at the back of the line.
Amazon.com says the device will arrive after December 25th, 2009.
I re-pre-ordered the phone on Amazon.com again…. lol Bye bye newegg.com and Bing’s 10% rebate.

The Amazon description says the rebate is in the box. There is no reason to expect the same rebate will or will not be in the Newegg boxes too. Damnit, this is the most messed up pre-order ever.
What has me wondering is if the rebate is now offered in place of the bluetooth headset that some retailers were including free, but which seems to have been found incompatible. Maybe -all- pre-ordered N900s will get a rebate certificate.

Newegg has the same rebate – http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesfornewegg/rebate/SH/Nokia3MIRsNov16Dec3109ls41.pdf

Part of your story is incorrect. According to Amazon, the rebate will not apply to pre-orders done before November 16 (this per Nokia’s rebate terms).
Amazon considers a pre-order a “purchase” when it comes to the date that will be shown on your invoice, which you need to submit with the Nokia rebate form.
So if you pre-ordered November 15th, for example, you can’t use the rebate. Doesn’t seem fair does it? I am on my third email to Amazon trying to show them what’s wrong with this. They’re saying “just cancel and re-order” which you can do, but that puts you at the back of the line for shipping, and that’s an additional and unknown delay that I don’t want to add to the current delay already going on. They are going to have a lot of people upset with this when they eventually figure it out. If you’re one of them – write!

Update: Amazon edited its page. It now says that WITH the $50 mail in rebate, the total comes to $559. Not $509. I don’t think Amazon knows what they are doing.

Hmm, curious in the rebate form. you must activate the OVI Store.
In Ovi Store, you need to choose the mobile phone. but there is no nokia N900 in the option.
How can you submit the rebate form then ????
December 16, 2009
@tirta You can also do it on Ovi Maps from your N900.
Best buy was selling good……It came down to $520 which included $50 rebate stuff……missed the offer and its sold out temporarily….
Amazon lowered it to $530 but now its back to $588. Do we see any price drop happening in few weeks since thrz no more offer with it?
Sorry that waz Buy.com and not bestbuy.com

Has any ordinary person actually seen one of these things? Actually received it? NokiaUSA claimed “InStock” so I ordered it and a bunch of other stuff, about $1000 worth, on 12 December. Despite multiple correspondence (“In Process” – what does THAT mean) and no response and no receipt I finally canceled the order on 12/31/09. Shame on them. VAPORWARE. So I will not order it on line, rather wait until it is in a store. Fortunately I’m going to Europe next week, perhaps they actually have the gear. My sense is that it really has not landed in the USA.
Cheers, Andy
