Nokia Experts Launch Contest week three, answer three questions for a valid entry

n85-e71-contest Week 3 of the Nokia Experts Launch Contest is now kicking off and will run until midnight Pacific Time on Sunday, 15 February. Here are the rules for Week 3:

How to Enter – Week 3 (Ends Sunday, 15 February at midnight Pacific Standard Time)

One aspect of a mobile OS like Symbian is that there are thousands of developers creating applications to make our devices even better than they are right out of the box. Please let me know these three things in the comments section for a valid entry; (1) what is your favorite 3rd party application? (2) what title (from another mobile OS perhaps) or type of application do you want to see developed? and (3) what is your favorite accessory?

For myself, I would have to say (1) RoadSync, (2) Twitterfon, and (3) 16GB microSD card. What are your entries for this week?

That’s it for this week! I’ll post the details for Week 4 entries next Monday morning.

The Fine Print and More Rules

  1. One entry per person per week (please only submit a single comment for the contest for this post).
  2. Full contest will end at midnight Pacific Standard Time on Saturday, 28 February. Each weekly entry task will end on the Sunday at midnight of that particular week.
  3. You cannot be a contractor, moderator, or employee of any Smartphone Experts or Axel Ltd. sites. All of the restrictions of Smartphone Experts stores apply. This unfortunately means that we cannot ship to a PO, APO, or FPO box.
  4. The contest is open to anyone in the world.
  5. We’ll pick the winner randomly from all the correct entries that we receive.
  6. Please send any questions to contest@smartphoneexperts.com.

1: This is hard, but if I could only live with one application on my device it would have to be Google Maps.

2: I would like to see a bit torrent client developed that supports RSS so I can download my television shows straight to my device.

3: My Koss Porta Pro headphones are my favorite accessory since they’re really portable and the sound quality is great!

There are so many cool apps for S60, both 3rd party and built it, but the best would have to be Skype for your Mobile.. Being able to Skype my friends around the world for the price of my included minutes is awesome…

One thing I badly would like on S60 is a good email client, I mean the built in one is OK, but it is flaky as hell on my E61i and I am yet to find a good 3rd party app that is reliable, memory efficient and battery efficient.. Its a big hole at the moment.

And I know other people have mentioned all singing all dancing car kits, but my Nokia CK-7W bluetooth car kit is just bulletproof.. It does one thing and it does it really really well.. In Australia they are still $200 new and $100 second hand. I have three and I wouldn’t part with any of them..

1) Truphone – I set this up in the UK and therefore got a UK truphone number before I moved to the US. I love receiving international calls free of charge and it only costing my friends the price of a mobile phone call within the UK. 2) A good Google Reader client. The current web-based mobile Google Reader sites just don’t cut the mustard. 3) My PC-to-Nokia cable. I have done some really usefull stuff with it – backing up contacts, upgrading firmware etc.

1) Skystream SkyeQuiKey (if you haven’t tried it yet, you ought to, it’ll change the way you use your phone).

2) A good RSS client that looks good and makes it easy to follow several dozens of feeds at once.

3) None. Tried quite a few accessories over the years but never kept one for more than a week. External accessories just add bulk and generally aren’t worth the hassle.

(1) Probably GoogleMaps. It would be NokiaMaps 3.0 if it didn’t have a subscription model :) . I have to say, though, that with my E71 I have very few 3rd party apps installed…! (2) SCConnect/SmartConnect. Available for E71 from Download! but I would like to see Nokia integrate this (like the old Access Point Groups) into the OS. I travel often, and use alternate SIMs, that I just want to have ONE place ONLY to update my Access Points… (2) Nokia BH-503 BT headphones.

1) Hmm, that’s tough… But my favorite has to be Resco Sudoku (it’s not the one I depend the most on, or the one I use the most, but the one I enjoy the most, both for the game, and for the elegance of its implementation). 2) An iNum for my mobile, or a means to route my business VoIP line to my mobile without being dinged twice for LD when I’m out-of-town. 3) It’s a tie between SD card and BT headphone.

Since I am not yet a Nokia user (that’s why i’m entering this contest) so my answers are based on Windows Mobile. (1) The one third party ap i use most freequently is Live search from MSN. It’s sad, but is is by far the best GPS/search program i’ve found for windows mobile. (2) I would really like Carman from the N810 on an N96 (the one i’m going to win). (3) I also love large storage cards.

Here are my answers: 1. My Ringtone from mBounce.com which cuts Mp3 according to your preference. It helps me to cut Mp3′s and then make them as my ringtone. 2. I would love to have a application that can convert your voice into words, like for posting blog entries, I just have to speak and rest it will type itself. 3.CA-53 data cable which I use to transfer all of my stuff into my N73.

Good questions, and a bit harder to answer than I thought it would be.

(1) Nokia’s Mobile Web Server (surprise there ;) (2) An application that combines GMaps/Nokia Maps + Jaiku + SMS + Address book + IM (Contacts on Ovi,IM+) into one context-morphing address book, yellow pages, “get me there and show me people/places I know” kinda application (3) My Daylight Savings solar chargers

1) T9Nav. No other app adds more to S60. Try it. 2) SBP Mobile Shell. Handy Shell sucks, and symbian devices BADLY need an improved desktop, unless it is the upcoming 5630. 3) Video stand for the 5800.

Haha… I’m what you would call a power user and “prosumer” (pro + consumer)… i charge my N78 at least 3 times a day… and the rest of the time i use it while it’s plugged into the socket charging. I wish Nokia would develop a nuclear powered battery for their S60 devices… lol.

2: Google Latitude as it will operate on iphone, but on steroids! 1. Favorite app is SPB Mobile Shell on WM (customization is a big deal for me).
  2. I’d like to see Mobile Shell for other platforms – like S60. Looks like SPB is developing for this OS now, however!
  3. Super clear, super thin screen protectors. First thing that goes on every phone I get.

1) My favorite application is without a doubt, Mobbler, the last.fm app. 2) I would like to see an alternative (hopefully freeware) for voice-navigation apart from nokia maps. I enjoy Nokia maps throughly but paying the amount for v-n is something I can’t swallow at the moment. 3) My favorite accessory is most likely the 3.5 mm cable I have to connect my phone to my line in in my car.

(1) what is your favorite 3rd party application? (2) what title (from another mobile OS perhaps) or type of application do you want to see developed? and (3) what is your favorite accessory?

1.Panoman because I love taking panoramic photos. 2.CorePlayer with all formats suported. CorePlayer doesnt support .wmv in S60 and no hardware acceleration. 3.It would be any external speaker like Nokia MD-6.

Your blog is pretty interesting to me and your topics are very relevant. I was browsing around and came across something you might find interesting. I was guilty of 3 of them with my sites. “99% of site managers are guilty of these 5 errors”. http://is.gd/HWKqeJ You will be suprised how easy they are to fix.
