This looks interesting. I guess we'll have to wait and see if its a big hit or not. Something to keep an eye on.

I don't think that other companies are taking Nokia's market. I am thinking of the smartphone market. Nokia is losing market share because the market is expanding to new people who were not Nokia customers. RIM and Apple are growing by upgrading people to smartphones and eating up sales from windows mobile and non smartphone manufacturers.

It seems that Nokia is holding onto their customers while the total market continues to grow.

It's actually very pretty machine. Spec is average. I wonder about price though. We'll see.

Looks sleek. It was only a matter of time before Nokia started making notebooks.

I know Nokia is working different in U.S., but in the rest of the world they are pretty good using the carriers as channel resellers and making use of subsidies to fit the price targets for smartphones. If they can offer this beauties for the same price of cheaper netbooks (in terms of pricing, but also quality and functionality) with 12 months contracts of flat 3G data at U$ 30 a month, they will be a success. Just for example, Claro Argentina (from America Moviles) was offering 0% interest rate of 12 month financing for a netbook of U$ 400 and the 3G modem free from Huawei for a 12 months contract of U$ 25 a month of unlimited 3G data. If you have that deal with better quality netbook, integrated 3G, GPS, you have a winner! Let's see if they can make a game changer...

There's a few things in it's favour that other netbooks don't have... GPS built in, 3G, a higher res screen than 1024x600 on most netbooks and supposedly better materials / build quality.

Netbooks aren't ONLY chosen on price. Some people choose them for the size. If people only bought on price, Apple wouldn't sell a single laptop.

However, I wonder if these won't just end up as more 'free laptop' deals in phone retailers instead of the Asus/Acer/Dell laptops you get free at the moment.
