Nokia E73 Mode coming to T-Mobile June 16th, $69.99 on contract

T-Mobile has announced that the Nokia E73 Mode is coming to their network on June 16th for a quite reasonable $69.99 after two-year contract. As Matthew noted when this was first rumored, The E73 is essentially a version of the E72, but T-Mobile is traditionally much better at leaving Nokia devices with their standard setup and not loading them up with extra software like AT&T.
The E73 naturally comes with WiFi, free Ovi maps for turn-by-turn directions, and Ovi Store – wherein you can buy apps either directly with your credit card or have them charged to your T-Mobile bill. T-Mobile’s WiFi calling is also on board. The “Mode” in the brand name here refers to “Nokia’s unique Switch Mode feature, which allows consumers to switch between fully customizable home screens.”

We can only hope that with Qt and Symbian^3, this will entice developers to bring more applications to Ovi which will bring more content to Nokia’s other devices, including the e73.
They need to find their niche in the U.S. market. So far, the limited 3G coverage is stopping a lot of people from jumping to T-Mobile. I’m rooting for you Nokia.
I just returned from vacation and was psyched to read this news! $69.99 for this is a fantastic choice for the Eseries fans and now I have a rather low cost upgrade option for my wife when she destroys her E71 (she always ends up breaking the devices I give her). I am sure this will be a better phone than the E71x because AT&T doesn’t have their hands all over it.

AT&T’s bloatware kills every device it touches. I can’t recall where I read it, but there was a good article stating that Nokia actually dislikes their smartphones being on networks where they are tied down and user experience damaged. Being controlled by the network operator instead of the consumer can alter anyones perspective on a device. @Matthew – Welcome back from your vacation. Since you’re in a T-MO 3G area, you are getting a lot of good devices that you can use to their full potential. 21 Mb/s (HSPA+) hasn’t reached you yet, has it?

x2, how much does one have to pay for data?
June 7, 2010
Data information is available on T-Mobile.com. They changed them recently and became much more competitive. Data is bundled with texts and depends on how many minutes you choose. As for the front trim bezel. I own the e71, similar to the e73. The front bezel is held on by T-6 Torx screws, or so it appears. It technically would be replaceable, but probably very uncommon. I doubt anyone would make after-market bezels. I have never seen a replaceable bezel on a Nokia device. Then again, I’m not that old, so they might have existed in one point in time.
