Nokia E72 NAM available for pre-order on Amazon.com
The Nokia E71/E71x is my favorite Symbian device of all time and sets the bar for what a functional smartphone should be. The upcoming Nokia E72 looks to be even better with tweaks made to perfect the E71, including a 3.5mm headset jack, more integrated phone memory (already quite ample on E71), better camera (5 megapixel vs 3.2 megapixel), and S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 (also seen on E71x). As Engadget pointed out you can now pre-order the US version on Amazon for $469.
Considering that the device is SIM unlocked, has no carrier bloatware, and is extremely functional this seems to be a fair price. However, as we continually see with Nokia smartphones the prices for these drop quickly (especially for Eseries models) and there are generally coupons from places like Dell or Nokia USA to make the phones more affordable. I am not jumping in on the pre-order yet since I am waiting for the Nokia N900, but will keep my eye out for sales.

I pulled the trigger since I just got my credit back from my N97 return. My E71 has never failed me, but adding a regular headphone plug and decent camera means that I will use the E72 more for media and photos.

Nice to see an update to the 71. I really found mine to be quite useful — until I dropped it, wrecking the screen. Replaced it with an E75, but missed a couple of features from the 71 (BT keyboard drivers, the Conversation SMS app) and haven’t quite gotten used to the keyboard yet. I may end up with one.
