Nokia E72 clears FCC, when can we expect the NAM model?

Nokia announced the E72 back on June 15th and now we are seeing FCC documentation that the E72 NAM version is coming. Even though I have been primarily using my N97 lately, I keep going back to the E71x because of the fantastic form factor and sheer speed. The E72 is the upgrade all of us E71/E71x fans have been waiting for and I will have a VERY TOUGH time resisting this device.

The major improvements I look forward to include the 3.5mm headset jack, 5 megapixel camera, and S60 Feature Pack 2.

Have you overlooked the fact that the E72 has a 600MHz processor. This phone should fly.

I didn’t know about the 600MHZ processor…I wonder how hot it will get?

That processor might eat into battery life too, but FP2 is better at power management from what I’ve heard. In fact, it’s too bad nobody has done an E71 vs E71x comparison on battery life.

Either way, Matt, you KNOW you’re getting this device so stop pretending! :) The E71 has been one of your favorite phones and this thing improves on all of the things that us E71 users have complained about! (Camera, UDP, 3.5mm audio, etc.)

I’ve been doing the Flickr search for photos taken with the E72 and based on some people’s profiles, the pre-launch models out are not to just Nokia employees. One guy works for a tele-com company in Ireland and he’s been given one. He does phone reviews on his blog too, so there may already be review units out there!

I set aside the money from my N82 to pay for my next phone and this will likely be it. Aug. 1-4 I’ll be in Chicago and plan on visiting the Nokia store to try a 5800 and E75 out too. I swear Nokia would sell more phones if people were just able to see them in person!

In contrast to the Arm 11 600 MHz processor on the E72, the E71 clocks in at 369 MHz.

I also saw a mention that it has 4 GB of internal memory.

When is the E72 due in shops and who is likely to be the better provider.

I am struggling with my old phone until E72 is released.

I have an E70 – imho the most overlooked phone in history! It’s a fabulous piece of kit but it’s now, after 3 years of heavy use, starting to show it’s age. Functionality is excellent, but the navigation ‘joystick’ is becoming erratic in use.

I’ve looked at the (hugely expensive) N97 but haven’t been able to see and handle an E75 anywhere (in the UK). As Brad B says, Nokia would sell more phones if folk could find them!

You are right about the E70. That is a great phone.

@Brad Barbaza
You are wrong about battery life, It is stated to have a standby time of 28 days and it usage time is beyond that of E71. As for the memory, it isn’t 4 gb of internal, but a bundled flash card that it is 4gb. Still a good package and it reckognizes a 32gb card.
