is there any news on nokia moving to capacitive touchscreens for their nokia 5800? and hopefully their n97 as well?

I’d love to get an E71x for $100, but last time I got a S60 device from AT&T (E62), they crippled it so badly that I swore never to buy a subsidized device again.

I’d love to see your reports when the E71x comes out, to see if AT&T crippled Java or told Nokia to block any firmware updates again.

And they’d probably make me get a PDA data plan rather than medianet.

I have had the unlocked white e71 for two weeks and really love the way it justs works. It is my first s60 device and will not be my last. Yes I paid 3 times the price of the ATT version but I will not have to put up with ATT’s limitations. The only thing I cannot seem to do is use ATT’s GPS program but with AGPS and google maps it is not a big sacrifice. Highly recommend the e71 either version and get a silicone skin so you will have a better grip when using the phone.

Well from perusing the information about the phone, it doesn’t seem to be crippled by much. There is the obligatory ring tone size limit (300kb? **** you AT&T) and all the AT&T crapware. You do have to get a smartphone plan though so over time it would appear that an unlocked phone will save you $15+ /month, so the difference would be gone after what…14 months?

I bought the unlocked version back in March, I would not trade the cost of my device for the ATT version after what they did to the E61. I have a feeling ATT will disable the integrated GPS to force customers to purchase the data plan to get GPS via the network.

I have kaspersky on mine and you can Block, Wipe and track the phone should it be stolen.
