Nokia E71x contest: Win a free year of AT&T Navigator!

It has been a while since we had a contest here on Nokia Experts and the great folks at TeleNav (in particular Mary Beth) asked if we were interested in giving away a FULL YEAR subscription of AT&T Navigator to one lucky Nokia E71x owner. I posted my review of AT&T Navigator on my E71x and think it is a fantastic GPS voice-guided navigation solution on a solid device.

nokiae71x_telenav1

Let me make this clear for all you readers too, this contest is only applicable to AT&T Nokia E71x owners in the US because that is the only device, and country, that this software currently is compatible with. If you enter I will need to verify with you that you indeed do have a Nokia E71x (winner needs to send in a photo of their E71x with them in the photo please) so that the prize can be awarded to a valid recipient. This is a prize worth $119.88 ($9.99/month for 12 months) so all of you E71x owners will definitely want to enter to win.

How to Enter

Since this is a GPS navigation program I am interested in finding out something about you and how this software would benefit you this summer. Please leave a comment with a response to at least one of the following:

  1. Are you planning a vacation where TeleNav will help you out and if so, where are you going?
  2. Do you have a killer commute where TeleNav can help and if so, what city is that in?
  3. Any other story about using TeleNav or plans for using TeleNav you wish to share?

The Fine Print and More Rules

  1. One entry per person.
  2. Full contest will end at 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time on Sunday, 19 July.
  3. You cannot be a contractor, moderator, or employee of any Smartphone Experts or Axel Ltd. sites. All of the restrictions of Smartphone Experts stores apply. This unfortunately means that we cannot ship to a PO, APO, or FPO box.
  4. The contest is open to those in the US who have an AT&T SIM and Nokia E71x ONLY.
  5. We’ll pick the winner randomly from all the correct entries that we receive.
  6. Please send any questions to contest@smartphoneexperts.com.

2! I’m moving next month from Salt Lake City to the Los Angeles area to be a regional manager for my company and never having lived there, Navigator will come in reeeeal handy. I’ve already purchased a windsheild mount for the phone and practiced using the one month trial via AT&T!

I am an owner of the e71 as well as the e71x and have been using both devices for gps navigation. I have used nokia maps, garmin mobile xt as well as the one month trial of Navigator. The two things that stand out about the AT&T service is the ability for spoken street names and Traffic information. I had gone for a road trip from LA to San Francisco and the Traffic updates came real handy. Was able to avoid all major congestions and maximize time off the road !

I bought a Nokia E71x about a month ago. I used the 30-day trial for AT&T navigator, and I really like it. I use it to get around downtown Orlando during the NBA finals. It definitely helps when I visit my parents in San Diego, CA. Later this summer I plan on visiting my grandmother in Boston, MA, and my Aunt and Uncle near the D.C. area.

A free year of this service would be most epically awesome. Please, I have never really won anything valuable in my life!

Thinking of driving up to Charleston before end of summer. I occasionally get lost in Atlanta, so TeleNav would really be a help.

I expect to be traveling to New York City for business meetings. I have been to NYC before and can tell you that I was lost pretty much the entire trip. I can’t think of anywhere that AT&T Navigator might be more useful, whether driving or walking.

Thanks for the contest… it is always fun trying to win something. Last week I finally had to give up on Ed McMahon calling me to tell me I won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.

Matthew,

When one of my Contacts calls me on my E71x, I only see their phone number, not their name. This is happening with several of my contacts and their phone numbers are clearly entered correctly in the Contacts information. This is happening with most of my contacts, but not all of them. I can’t see any difference in the contact information between the ones which work and the ones that do not. BTW… All of my contacts are in Phone Memory. The SIM card is not being accessed. Thanks.

I own a E71x. Traveling to Jersey, near Philly and would like to use the Navigator so like the other contestants – I want to win a Full Year of AT&T Navigator. BTW way is there an app for a larger font to display the time all of the idle time?

Matthew,

Sorry. I found my answer to names not showing up, just numbers. Duplicate contacts in my address book when I synched with Outlook. The program did not know which contact’s name to display. Working fine now. Thanks.

Hi,
I got an E71x in May. It’s my first smart phone and I like it. I’m taking the family to Boulder, CO for a little vacation. The Navigator would be very handy getting around, seeing the sites and it’s just plain cool.

Thanks,
Paul

After 6 months of agonizing unemployment I’m FINALLY working again, for a logistics company. Who knows where they’ll send me! They’re reimbursing me for my cell account which helps, and I’m loving my new E71x. But I’m otherwise broke from being out of work so long and can’t afford much, so a year’s worth of navigating would hit the spot… or at least direct me to it!

I am a Realtor here in SC and while trying to help people find the home of their dreams you tend to see a lot of houses. I could plug in the addresses of the houses and off we go! In this day and age it is essential for a Realtor to always have their phone on them 24/7 and it would be WONDERFUL to have navigation on my new E71x wherever I am at. Also, when traveling with my husband to San Diego soon it would be great to have navigation to get around to see all the sites, restaurants, and have it in the rental car since all of them don’t come with GPS. So for business and personal it can work in all aspects of my life!!! Thanks so much.

Sadly, I have had 2 GPS units stolen out of my car in the last 6 months (yes, I locked the doors and hid the unit!).
I confess to needing GPS to simply survive in the suberbs of Northern Virginia (DC Metro area). We aren’t taking a ‘real’ vacation, but we are doing several ‘staycation’ adventures this summer. I’ve been hopelessly lost so many times since losing my GPS units that I recently bought the 71x so I could have GPS on my phone to guide me to these various locations. I sure could use the At&t voice navigation to guide me as I drive…I’m not the best at multi-tasking so keeping my eyes on the road keeps me and my toddler that much more safe in the car! 😉
Thanks so much for the contest opportunity!

I recieved my E71x today and have been impressed with it so far. I would love to have the AT&T Navigator for a year because I am travel a lot. I regularly commute a few hours for school and always get lost in Baton Rouge. This service would be a tremendous help.

I just received my e71x and so far, love it! Could really use the Navigator as I’m married to someone who doesn’t like to “ask” for directions and we travel a lot! We especially like to just take off and go – with no particular place in mind.

I just got my E71x today. Since my Garmin is on the fritz (ie. it loses connection to all satellites and will not reconnect…at the most inconvenient time possible) it would be great to make the switch to AT&T Navigator on my brand new phone…especially to drive from PA to DC for college in the Fall.

I literally received my E71x phone today and I’m enthralled with it. I hope to take a vacation in about 6 months and Telenav will be very useful because it’s a roadtrip. My husband & I are exploring the Southeastern part of the United States (GA, SC, NC, TN) and we don’t foresee ourselves printing out directions to every single place we’d like to go. Having the ATT Navigator on my phone will make a lot more sense especially as we will be doing a lot of hiking and walking around.
I thankfully don’t have a ‘killer’ commute as my place of work is less than 25 minutes, but it will be interesting to see what convoluted routes that the Navigator might whip up. :)
I’m familiar with the Telenav technology as if I recall correctly, Microsoft Live Search for Mobile on my previous phone uses the Telenav technology so I feel Telenav is a trusted name in this business. Thanks!

Sincerely,
Jane

I am charter pilot living in Washington, DC. I commute 45 miles from my home to the airport and am always having to take an alternate route due to traffic. Also, when we go to cities that we have never been, Telenav would be helpful in locating hotels and restaurants on the road.

I have a navigation system built into my vehicle, but the maps are woefully out of date! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to be able to navigate my way to friends’ houses without getting most of the way there, then having to call them because my current system doesn’t recognize the newly built subdivision. (Google Maps are just a little hard to read while I’m driving!) TeleNav sounds like a great ‘fit’ for the E71x…

Are you planning a vacation where TeleNav will help you out and if so, where are you going? no.
Do you have a killer commute where TeleNav can help and if so, what city is that in? no.

Any other story about using TeleNav or plans for using TeleNav you wish to share? I’m a relatively new driver, so I constantly get lost. I’m looking for at&t navigator over google maps app because I dont feel comfortable staring at my phone while driving. Voice commands are most important.
The other competition is from Nokia Maps [which can be installed on e71x], but At&T is actually a little cheaper [cost is the other issue, I wish At&T had a “one day license” option like nokia maps does]

I’m a delivery driver and oft times I’m sent to make deliveries in unfamiliar areas, making the gps on the E71x very useful. Having Navigator with voice guided directions on my phone would be great to keep my eyes on the road where they belong, the alternative being having to pull over to check directions.

I just got my shiny new e71x!. I am planning to go for a road trip along the western coast in September and it would be great to not have to carry a stand alone GPS device. Plus traffic information will also come in handy which i don’t have on my gps unit.

I unfortunately don’t have an E71, so I am not eligible, but this is a really great app. I’ve been using it for about 3 years, and when combined with Bing (formerly Windows Live Search), its nearly unbeatable.

Good luck to those that are eligible! YOu’re going to love AT&T Navigator!

Thank you so much for this opportunity! I recently acquired my Nokia E71x after using a Nokia 3600 for the last 5.5 years. I loved that phone, but it was time to upgrade. While I have installed google maps to my phone, I find I prefer using the AT&T Navigator. However, my 30 day trial is coming to a close, and being on a college student’s budget, I’ll be canceling everything extra, including the data plan (I’m so grateful for the wifi capabilities!).

Anyway, long story short, I put about 800 miles on my car a week commuting to school and work. While that will be tapering shortly, I do end up visiting friends all over Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and after my sister’s recent move, New York. The GPS has come in extremely handy in the last month’s worth of travels, and as I go on job interviews in the next few months, it will continue to be useful. Also, I will be driving out to Texas (1600+ miles) at some point in the next year to visit a close friend and her new daughter, as well as a few other friends in that region. The last time I was out there, I took an early exit because of poor directions and ended up in the red light district of Dallas…for a young lass, that was a bit uncomfortable.

Anyway, thank you again for this opportunity! I’ve found your E71x articles extremely useful in making the appropriate tweaks to my phone, and I look forward to continued posts.

Cheers!
~ Elizabeth

I would like to enter for the free year of AT&T Navigator service. I purchased my E71x the day it was released. After my E62, this has been a nice upgrade and does everything I have asked from it. For my work, I am regularly driving through the greater Los Angeles area often putting 150 miles or more in a day. It may not sound like a lot to some, but these are ALL in traffic miles. When I used the 30 day trial of the Navigator service, it was a relief to have the freedom of working around traffic without missing a key road to my next appointment.

When I’m not working my free time is for me and the AT&T Navigator still helps. My girlfriend and I enjoy road trips and like to travel the CA coast. The Navigator helps us find little out of the way places where we can eat, explore, and enjoy the time away.

In June my Wife and I went to Hawaii for a couple weeks of relaxation. On top of the everyday usefulness that my E71x with AT&T Navigator provided, here are 3 reasons why it proved invaluable.

My AT&T Navigator came in handy almost immediately when we hit the ground. Our rental car company was not actually on the airport grounds so we had to take a shuttle to get there. I knew since we weren’t actually at the airport that when it came time to return the car I wouldn’t be able to follow the Rental Car Return signs. So just before we left the car lot I grabbed my Nokia E1x and fired up the AT&T Navigator. I saved my current location, that way when it was time to catch our departure flight back home I wouldn’t be driving around in circles trying to find the rental car place. This especially came in handy since I always seem to be running late when it comes to catching a flight.

The next reason Navigator came in handy. We were in a store that didn’t have what we where looking for. The manager gave us directions to another store, the typical left here go up a mile or 2, turn right at the light, left again, then another right, etc. etc. Well when you carry AT&T Navigator in your pocket there is no reason to try and remember all those lefts and rights. You just get the Name of the business, type it in and right to the front door you go.

And lastly it came in handy because I didn’t have to pack and drag along our old overweight Garmin with the oversized power cord nor did I have to spend over $10 a day renting one.
