Nokia E6 is the QWERTY Symbian phone of your dreams

nokia e6We know that more than a few of you have stuck with Nokia and Symbian for one reason: they’ve consistently made the most incredible hardware around in the portrait-QWERTY-no-touchscreen form factor around. The new Nokia E6 continues that fine tradition but brings something that we’re sure every single E71 and E72 user has been coveting: massively increased screen resolution. Packing in a 640 x 480 set of pixels into a 2.46″ screen makes for some pretty intense pixel density. Moving around the phone:

  • 115.5 x 59 x 10.5 mm
  • 133g
  • a 1500 mAh battery good for 7 and a half hours of talk time
  • 680MHz processor
  • FM Radio
  • 8mp Camera with 720p video and a with front-facing camera too
  • 8gb microSD included

The E7 runs Symbian Anna, which brings a new icon set and improved browser to the platform along with Microsoft Communicator for you business types.

This is the phone I’ve been waiting for. Curious to see if any carriers in the US bother supporting it since we all know symbian is on the way out. Maybe I should wait for this phone with Windows 7 is it even possible to do a windows phone without the touch screen?

Just checked out the web site guess it has a touch screen, guess I misunderstood the article.

marc. u better pray no carrier picks it up. remember the e71x? horrible. I would rather pay more for the phone and be on the cheap non-smartphone data plan. which is better than the 2gb plan. pray

I love my N8, but for messaging/email this really looks nice.
My husband uses the E73 so I have been exposed this form factor before, with a higher res screen AND touch screen as well we would appear to have the best of both worlds.

Is there any chance that Nokia will upgrade the E52/E55 series?
They are amazing little devices and would be great with the new capabilities.

e6 can be pre-ordered in germany for 430 euros.

kinda expensive for a mobile on dying platform. not that it’s bad, no, i’ve been using nokia for almost 10 years and would do so in the future if there was not a change of os planned for next year.

i’d rather go for bb. at least i know this platform will be supported in the future.

i have to admit, i feel alittle sad about leaving nokia after all these years….
