Nokia C7 shipments begin

C6C78Following on the heels of the Nokia N8 shipments we just received the press release from Nokia that the C7 shipments have begun. When I held the C7 at Nokia World it felt just about like a Nokia E71 or E73 without the keyboard. By this I mean it was built to be a rock solid piece of hardware that I am sure will please many people who don’t want to pay the higher price for the N8 and want something a bit slimmer and sleeker.

The Nokia C7-00 is the second Symbian^3 device to ship and also has a 3.5 inch AMOLED screen. This device is similar to the N8 in that neither has that new ClearBlack Display (CBD) and you will have to wait for the C6 or E7 for that technology.

I do not see any information on the C7 on the Nokia USA site.

I really think Nokia doesn’t care about the US market. I know it is a two way street, and they’ve had a rough go of it over the past few years, but when they can’t get preorder information straight about the biggest launch in 18 months, and then act like the US doesn’t exist when it comes to the C7, C6-01 and E7 – what do they expect?

I know they’re in a tough spot, but ignoring the US market isn’t a good way to try to repair the relationship.

Matt, I do think the C7 has the CBD, well, according to GSMArena.

Nope, the C6 and E7 have it, but not the C7 and N8.

I am curious…the C7 is a pentaband phone with the same frequencies listed as the typical Nokia NAM version phone. It looks to me like it should work on most US-based carriers without the need for a special NAM version. Am I missing something?

Mike, you are not missing anything and are correct. The four Symbian^3 phones, the C7, C6, E7, and N8 all have penta-band 3G support so you don’t have to worry about your GSM carrier. It is pretty amazing to me that Nokia was able to do this while NO ONE else has with a smartphone.

I think you guys are missing the boat when Nokia does not put out all the info about their new devices.Just like the car companies they don’t want the compatetion to know all about their new products so they let out a little at a time and as far as supporting the U.S. Market I agree with some of what was said above but as a new nokia user I think they give very good suport. I would say though they should put alot more apps in their ovi store and they should have more of the more popular apps able to be used on the devices like slacker or even pandora
