I once interviewed for a job and someone who previously had the job told me it was the "worst job at the best company" and I never took it. He did it because he felt like he would have been let go eventually and the package his company was offering (2 weeks of pay for every year of service) lessened the blow and allowed him time to get another job.</p> <p>As it turned out the next round of layoffs didn't offer the sweet deal so he was lucky.</p> I had a friend take up his company on one of these offers.
