This is a slick device, but it is not a smartphone, it's a mini PC, especially since it is running a computer OS. So I would consider this device only if I was looking for a netbook replacement.

Plus with the pricing the N900 gets into the highest quality netbook or mid priced notebook. Since I have both of those devices, I don't need a third or fourth device that functions as a PC. Moreover, I have never been a fan of phones that act like super small computers, mostly because it's too difficult for me to use them. (Back in 1999 I had a PDA with a Sierra wireless card that gave me DSL speed on my Compaq Ipaq. When I went to sites I could not navigate all that well.

Unless people have money to burn, in this economy I don't see people paying $500++ on a subsidized "phone." iPhone dodged the bullet back when it debuted, I think those days are over, people paying $400 to $500 for the must have device.

Beautiful device though. I love the interface. I have a T-Mobile Touch Pro2 running a cooked WinMo 6.5.1 build. I love the device. But in line with what I said above, I paid $329 on a one-year contract. If it was $550 (the retail price) I would not have bought it, no matter how nice the device.

Sidenote: The TP2 keyboard and tilt screen are what I really like in terms of form factor. The keyboard is the best I have ever used on a device.

And the WinMo 6.5.1 OS combined with HTC's TouchFLO 3D 2.5 have a feel that I suspect is similar to the N900's. But I have to say the MAEMO shell is outstanding. I really like the panoramic scrolling screen. Great design.

I have made a lot of videos about my T-Mobile Touch Pro2 if you care to see them. Will be interesting to see how customizable the N900 becomes. That's a "feature" I really like about the TP2, I can alter, fiddle and customize all I want.

Hi guys! I'm an avid fan of Nokia and Symbian phones from Philippines, and I'd like to share my interest in exploring new features in mobile technology particularly this new device and its Maemo platform for mobile communicators.

I'd like to witness how it performs well as a device, mobile communicator, and internet tablet, and be able to know what lies behind this new mobile OS.

I also want to know how worthy to have this device over the other existing and upcoming competitors and rivals in its level, and chat and meet people with the same interest.

I hope we can share each and everyone's knowledge on this stuff among all of electronic gadgets we've had. http://www.Nokia-N900.org is nice place to hangout.

I've convinced my wife to get this. She has a Blackberry Curve (against my recommendation). She wanted the E71 (that I said she should have gotten instead of the Curve) but then showed her this. But this interface is spot-on and I think she'll like using it more than the E71.

What I don't understand is Nokia's thinking. The N97 has a jury-rigged interface on a top end phone. Why wasn't this put on it instead? Now, I'm an Android-fanboy but Nokia still has a place in my heart because my first smartphone was an E62. I like the HTC Hero & Sense UI, but if ever there was an iPhone-killer interface, Maemo is it.

Come on Nokia, get it together. If the new Symbian Foundation interface is anything like this, there's going to be a real showdown in the smartphone world come next summer.

Finaly!! I've been waiting for a while for this, even went to the android platform for a while. I always thought they were gonna make their move, it was only a matter of (too much) time! But hey it's here and it's rockin' already.

Android was fun, with a lot of great potential! But some of us needs productiveness and overall power and flexibility. For now Android is just too young for me. HD posebilities, very basic media support it's all in very early stage at the moment for me. I need something that is functioning well with what I was used too (N95 best phone experience, all around very functional)

Open Linux platform!! I am there! And way faster coding and porting time! Hell I'll help contribute myself. Most definitly going to get this one when it's out!

Peace, i'm out
