What do you like about your Nokia 5800?
I enjoy using my Nokia 5800 XM device and after reading Steve’s Ten Things Nokia did right in the 5800 I have to say I couldn’t have said it better myself. I would have placed things in a bit different order though with the keyguard lock switch coming in number 2 just after the full screen usage functionality.
Now that the 5800 XM NAM issues are apparently fixed it will be interesting to see what users in the US think of the device and the 3G connectivity. I may get a 3G model to replace my Euro model eventually, but haven’t decided if I want to use it with my AT&T SIM at the moment since I like using it with my T-Mobile SIM where 3G is not possible with the 5800.
Do you have anything other than what Steve mentioned that please you about the 5800?

Well, what can I say… He pretty much puts things spot on. I especially agree on the points regarding the Haptics, the OS (oh the S60v5 compatible programs are FINALLY trickling out) and the fact that this little mid-tier phone that could has a touch screen AND the works (WIFI, GPS, TV-out, 8GB mSD).
As for me, 1 point that I felt was very important (yet was left out) was the fact that the 5800 has such a dimunitive, yet grip-optimised size for something with such a huge screen (and VAST functionality), as somebody over in the comments in AAS said. It just feels really right in my hands, you know.
Shame I love it a little bit too much that it resides semi-permenantly now in a leather casing that makes it look (and feel) fat.
Oh, and the Resistive Screen. Strange as it may sound, I bought it in the first place BECAUSE of the resistive screen, as I used my old Axim (retired by part due to the 5800) extensively as a jotting pad and I felt I needed the same functionality on something that was going to replace it.
Shame there’s no real jotting pad software out for the 5800 yet. I make do with Mobile Paint, but heck that thing lags to high heaven.

I’m using Nokia 5800 for 2 weeks now and I have to admit I’m very happy with it. It a phone that has probably worst hardware from all S60 devices I had, bu tin the same time it has the best software package. Overall I’m very very happy with it.

I love my Nokia 5800 XM. I, like you, have the european version for use with my T-Mobile. I just can’t bring myself to switch to at&t. I have found some things that could be improved. When you press the call button and it takes you to the recent call screen, it doesn’t allow for viewing of missed calls or received calls (to my findings as of yet) like any other s60 3rd device. You have to back out and go to the “Log” screen from the menu to do that. I am having trouble with it automatically retrieving my email from Google. I set it up with Auto Retrieval and the times I want it to fetch my email and it doesn’t do this. Is there something I’m missing?? Or do you have to set up the “Sync Email” as well?? I’m slightly confused on this. Otherwise, I am truly loving this phone!
