March 24th passes with no AT&T E71 device
So it appears that the rumor of a Nokia E71 coming to AT&T on 24 March were wrong now that we are at 25 March without a device. The latest rumor is that the AT&T version may be delayed by as much as 8 weeks or longer. That puts the possible release date out in June or later. That will put it just past a year since the E71 was announced by Nokia. It really is a shame that these devices come to the US so much later, if at all, than the rest of the world.

That’s a shame too. I have an US Spec (working 3G on AT&T) E71 and it is an amazing machine. I like it a lot better than the Blackberrys I’ve had (Pearl and Curve) and Samsung Blackjack.
However with the propensity the carriers have with crippling features and adding a bunch of useless crapware on phones, Perhaps keeping truly great smartphones like the E71 out of their hands is for the better.

AT&T must be taking extra time to add additional bloatware that will kill the battery in record time. Then after 3 months of release and numerous customer complaints they will pull it from inventory. If you want a nice Nokia device you just have to buy unlocked.

This one I hate to say is most likely on Nokia this time, not At&t. My guess is that Nokia really wanted to get Mail for Exchange on the phone, that way push services are right there for the phone at the release, which makes sense. That way it’s an even playing field with the Blackberry’s and iPhone.
