fring for Nokia 5800 now available

My favorite VoIP and messaging application is fring because it lets me connect with my friends via Skype from several different mobile phones. It also allows me to stay connected via IM, Twitter, and Facebook while also integrating a Last.fm player. I was pleased to receive the news from Gil that fring is now available for the Nokia 5800 and now have it loaded on my device. As you may know, the 5800 runs S60 5th Edition so many applications need to be updated to fully support this OS.

As you can see in the video below, fring has now been optimized for the 5800 and the full screen experience is very nice.

Auto rotation from portrait to landscape is supported, as well as the on-screen keyboard. fring had about 100 users in the beta test group and the product seems solid so far.

Do you fring?

I wonder what this app has over Nimbuzz. Does it do IRC? That’s something missing from Nimbuzz…

I haven’t tried Nimbuzz yet, but looking through their site the 5800 XM is not on the supported devices list yet.

I also prefer Nimbuzz over Fring… Better call quality via Nimbuzz, IMHO
