Barriosquare Foursquare app now in Extras-devel, getting closer to Ovi Store
I previously gave you a short tour of Barriosquare on the Nokia N900 and told you about the beta opportunity. We just received word that Barriosquare is now available in the Extras-devel section of the Maemo repository so it is much easier to get it loaded onto your device now. You no longer have to use terminal commands and be a member of the beta test group to install and use Barriosquare.

I’m the developer, and I just wanted to clarify some misinformation. Barriosquare probably won’t make it to the OVI store until some serious issues with dependencies can be resolved by the maintainers of PyQt and possibly Nokia themselves. PyQt packages would probably need to be part of the core Maemo platform distribution for my app to be able to distributed via the Ovi store. Currently my dependencies are in extras-devel and even if they make them upstream to extras, it’s not sure how this ties into Ovi store publishing requirements. So without serious string pulling at Nokia don’t expect barriosquare to end up in the Ovi store anytime soon.

I didn’t have the patience with the N900, so at the end I moved to Android and problem solved
