Anssi Vanjoki, VP of Mobile Solutions, resigns from Nokia

Anssi Vanjoki, VP of Mobile Solutions, resigns from NokiaAfter a long day and a half of planes, trains, and automobiles I finally made it from Seattle over here to London for the Nokia World event kicking off in the morning. After landing and getting connected, I see that some more movement has been made in the Nokia leadership with Anssi Vanjoki resigning. You may recall that Anssi just took over as Executive VP of Mobile Solutions in July of this year after having been an employee of Nokia since 1991.

The official statement Mr. Vanjoki made in regards to the resignation, effective in a 6 month period, is:

I felt the time has come to seek new opportunities in my life. At the same time, I am one hundred per cent committed to doing my best for Nokia until my very last working day. I am also really looking forward to this year’s Nokia World and sharing news about exciting new devices and solutions.
Announcing this resignation on the eve of Nokia World, along with the new CEO may actually serve as evidence that Nokia is getting serious about getting back on track and halting the current slide in market share and profitability. I am sure we will have plenty of discussions with Nokia about the recent leadership changes and even though both OPK and Anssi have been good for Nokia over the years, it may be time for fresh perspectives on what needs to happen to help Nokia reclaim some mind share to go along with their still leading market share.
